As the calendar turns to December, the Keuka College Baseball team will once again hold their annual Polar Plunge. This year’s edition will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Point Neamo on the campus of Keuka College.
The proceeds of the Polar Plunge will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester.
“The Ronald McDonald House is a special place for myself and my family,” said Head Coach Rick Ferchen. “Both of my children were born premature and were cared for at Strong Memorial Hospital for multiple weeks. Now both Kyle and Brianna are in their mid-twenties, healthy, and starting their careers.”
Last year, the Keuka College Baseball team raised over $1,000 dollars and hope to eclipse that mark this year.
The dip in the winter waters of Keuka Lake will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is a $5 donation to jump in and the first 50 swimmers will receive a free t-shirt.
Donations will be accepted without having to take the plunge. Coffee and hot chocolate will be provided for everyone, courtesy of AVI and Keuka College’s Dining Services.
The Ronald McDonald House of Rochester is just one of a network of over 300 worldwide. Last year, they were able to support more than 900 families and children. For more information on the Ronald McDonald House, visit www.rmhcrochester.org.
