Gabe Stash of Marcus Whitman faced a difficult task in Friday’s indoor track meet at Hobart and William Smith College. He was a small-school runners competing against some of the bigger schools in Section V.
However, being the competitor that he is, Stash was more than ready for the task, as he came away Dec. 29 with a first-place finish in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:45.22 and a fourth-place finish in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:52.94.
Other Marcus Whitman athletes placing in running events included Emma McDowell, who finished in seventh place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:52.02, Hailey Rossi, who finished in fourth place in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.96, and Bryan Best, who finished in seventh place in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.95.
In the field events, Memphis Lohnes of Marcus Whitman finished in sixth place in the pole vault with a top vault of 9′6″.
