The Waterloo Indian bowling teams handed both Penn Yan boys and girls teams a 3-1 setback at Brock’s Bowl in Penn Yan Jan. 9.

Waterloo Girls 3 Penn Yan 1

The Mustang girl’s team was outscored by Waterloo 2,353 to 2,324. Penn Yan won the first game convincingly, 841-708, but Waterloo rallied to take the next two and edge the hometown Mustang girls by just 29 total pins. Kari Ayers was Penn Yan’s top bowler, rolling a 539 series (170-179-191). Emilie Thomas added a 476 ( 171-176) while Emily Augustin chipped in a 462 series (183). Penn Yan’s season record falls to 25-11.

Waterloo Boys 3 Penn Yan 1

Waterloo also defeated Penn Yan 3-1 in the boy’s match, scoring 2,859 pins to the Mustang’s 2,638. Penn Yan picked up a win in game two. Jon Mashewske topped the Penn Yan scoring sheet with a 595 series (211-181-203). Cameron Bassage added a 541 (188-181) while Zack Blauvelt rolled a 514 (204). Penn Yan’s season record stands at 24-12.

Penn Yan Girls 4 Romulus 0

The Penn Yan Mustang bowling teams recorded shutout wins over Romulus in a non-league match at Sunset Bowl in Border City Jan. 8. 

The Mustang girl’s team blanked the Seneca Lake Warriors 4-0, picking up 2,292 total pins to 1,568 for Romulus. Kari Ayers led the Orange and Blue keglers with a 563 series (210-185-177). Emilie Thomas added a 491 (191) while Emily Augustine chipped a 474 series (170). Brandee Ellis also added a 437 series (189) for Penn Yan (24-8). 

Penn Yan Boys 4 Romulus 0

The Mustang boy’s team also recorded a 4-0 victory over Romulus. They scored 2,590 pins to the Warriors 1,959, sweeping all three games. Jon Mashewske rolled a 519 (193) to lead the Penn Yan team. Zach Gurba added a 515 (197-189) and Zack Blauvelt rolled a 503 (181). Penn Yan’s Ben Broome also contributed a 499 series (175). The Mustangs improve to 23-9 with the shutout win.

Marcus Whitman Boys 4 Newark 0

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy’s bowling team continue to light up the lanes. The Wildcat keglers shutout Newark 4-0 in Newark Jan. 9 to improve their season record to 39-1, the beat in the Finger Lakes East League. Parker Smith and Zach Payne led the Wildcat charge with identical 571 series. Smith’s series featured a couple of 202 games, while Zach Payne rolled a 222 and 204 game. Dominick Mangiarelli added a 199 single game and teammate Logan Sieber contributed a 191 game.

Newark 4 Marcus Whitman 0

In the girl’s match, Newark shutout Marcus Whitman 4-0. Sydney Davis was Whitman’s best bowler with a 421 series ( 188). The Wildcat girl’s team falls to 11-29 with the shutout loss.
