Penn Yan 54 Waterloo 37
The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s basketball team is back on course again. The battling Orange and Blue hoops squad defeated Waterloo 54-37 in a Finger Lakes East contest played in Waterloo Jan. 26. The Mustang girls grabbed control of this contest in the first quarter, pulling out to a 16-5 lead. The Penn Yan girls upped their winning margin to 32-15 at the half and 44-21 after three quarters. Waterloo outscored the local five 16-10 in the final stanza, but it was way too little, too late for the hometown Indian girls. Penn Yan improved their Finger Lakes East League mark to 6-4 with the win. They are 8-7 overall.
Sydney Bloom continued her magical season on offense for the Mustang girls notching 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Jenna Curbeau added 8 points and totaled 11 boards.
Romulus 61 Dundee 38
The Dundee Scots girl’s basketball team dropped a 61-38 decision to Romulus at home Jan. 25. The loss dropped Dundee’s season record to 0-13. They are 0-11 in Finger Lakes West League action. MacKenzie Strait continued to shine on offense for the Dundee girls. She scored 20 of Dundee’s 38 points and also dished out 4 assists. MacKenzie also pulled down 7 rebounds and recorded 4 steals on defense.
Bloomfield 59 Marcus Whitman 46
The Marcus Whitman Wildcat girl’s basketball team dropped a 59-46 decision to Bloomfield on the road Jan. 25. Whitman falls to 5-5 in Finger Lakes West League play with the loss. They are 7-6 overall.
Emily Thompson tallied 21 points to lead the Wildcat girl’s in scoring. She also pulled down 7 rebounds. Jordyn Chappelle added 16 pints and 9 rebounds for the Wildcat girls.
