The 2017-18 local high school bowling season came to an end last week. The Section V High School Bowling tournament was held at ATM Gates Lanes in Rochester with the Penn Yan Mustang, Dundee Scot, and Marcus Whitman bowlers competing for Section V honors.
The Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy’s squad captured the Class D championship picking up 5,142 total pins. The Dundee Scot boy’s team garnered a 5th place finish in Class D. The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s came in 5th place in Class C with a 4,919 aggregate score. The Wayne boy’s team won the Class C title with 5,404 total pins. They edged out Marcus Whitman for the top small school championship in Section V. Individually, Penn Yan’s Zach Blauvelt registered the highest single game, rolling a 245 game.
On the girl’s side, the Penn Yan Mustang girl’s team finished in 2nd place with 4,860 total pins. The Newark girl’s claimed the Class C title picking up 5,300 total pins. Marcus Whitman finished in 5th place in Class D while Dundee ended up in 7th place. Penn Yan’s Kari Ayers recorded the second highest series score bowling a 1,153. Whitman’s Sydney Davis tallied the second highest single game, bowling a 220.
