The annual spring break vacation will be a busy one for the Penn Yan Mustang boy’s lacrosse team. The team will travel to Erie, Pa. on Tuesday for showdown with a talented team from Erie Prep. The game will be the season opener for the Penn Yan laxers. Their original scheduled opener against Carthage was canceled on Saturday due some Easter scheduling difficulties. After observing Easter on Sunday, the Orange and Blue lacrosse crew hit the road for the shores of Lake Erie on Monday.
Later in the week, on Friday night at Mustang Field, Penn Yan will host perhaps their biggest local high school lacrosse rival, the Canandaigua Braves. The annual contest between the two local high school lacrosse powers is always intense and hard fought. Local high school lacrosse fans mark their schedules for this showdown tilt. Penn Yan will be looking to avenge a loss last season to the Braves in Canandaigua. The Canandaigua laxers defeated Penn Yan 8-3 last season. The Braves hold a 12-10 advantage in the series. Because of the long-standing rivalry between the two schools on the lacrosse field, predictions are next to useless. The team that plays their best game on Friday night will emerge the winner. The stands will be packed and the rivalry game of the season will be intense.
The 2018 season for the Penn Yan Mustang boys will officially open this week. And as usual, it will open with a bang.
