The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s lacrosse team opened their 2018 season with a loud statement. The Mustang crew traveled to Erie, Pa. April 3 to take on Erie Prep on their home field. The Orange and Blue laxers jumped out early to a 5-0 lead after one quarter. They extended the margin to 11-1 at the halfway point and continued to cruise in the second half to a convincing 17-2 victory.

Connor Fingar led the Mustang offensive charge with 6 goals. Austin Blumbergs added 3 goals and 4 assists while Dylan Stape chipped in 2 goals and 1 assist. Rounding out the Penn Yan scoring was Ayden Mowry with 1 goal/ 2 assists, Colton Smith 4 goals and 1 assist, Max Brodman 1 goal, and Devon Gerhardt 1 assist. Jeff Kinyoun recorded 5 saves in the nets for Penn Yan.

The Mustangs (1-0) will return home for a big match against rival Canandaigua Friday night at Mustang Field.
