The Penn Yan Mustang softball team defeated Finger Lakes East rival Midlakes 13-6 April 4 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. as their annual spring break southern swing comes to an end.

The Penn Yan girls rapped out 11 hits enroute to the 13-6 victory. It was their first win of the spring. Kayla Anderson picked up the victory in the circle. She scattered 9 hits and struck out 6 Midlakes batters while walking just 4. Serina Sheridan paced the Mustang girls on offense, going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI’s. Alandra Jones collected 3 hits in 4 tries and drove in 2 runs.

Earlier, Penn Yan dropped a 15-10 decision to Doddridge, W.Va. The Orange and Blue girls collected 12 hits in this contest. Mel Gleason went 2-for-4, including a 3-run triple. Taylor Height had a 2-for-4 day driving in 2 runs. Hannah Yonts also went 3-for-4. Adriana Rodriquez also collect 2 hits in 4 tries.
