Penn Yan 4 Mynderse 1
The Penn Yan Mustang baseball team traveled to Seneca Falls April 10 to take on the hometown Blue Devils in a Finger Lakes East League contest. The Orange and Blue nine, behind the clutch pitching of senior Derrick Riviello, defeated Mynderse 4-1. The victory improves Penn Yan’s Finger Lakes East League record to 2-0.
The miserably chilly winter-like conditions did not deter the Mustang winning effort. Derrick Riviello tossed a complete game, limiting Mynderse to just 1 hit. He struck out 9 Blue Devil batters to secure the win. Noah Detar paced the Mustang offense collecting 2 hits.
Bloomfield 8 Dundee 2
The Dundee Varsity Baseball team lost to Bloomfield April 10 with a score of 8-2. Kyle Cratsley pitched 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 3 runs and striking out 15. He also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Zack Neu went 1-3 at the plate, driving in the other run for the Scots. For Bloomfield, Trevor Robinson pitched 6 innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 14.
Penn Yan 10 Bath 7
The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s lacrosse team jumped right back on the winning track April 10 in Bath as the Orange and Blue boys defeated the hometown Rams from Bath 10-7. The Mustangs dropped a tough 7-6 decision to Canandaigua in overtime on Friday evening in a hard-fought game. Tuesday evening they quickly righted their course with a big win. Penn Yan rolled to a 6-1 lead after 3 quarters, but the hometown Rams battled back in the final quarter, scoring 6 goals. The Penn Yan boys responded with 4 goals of their own to hang on for the win. The Mustangs improve to 2-1 with the victory.
Conner Fingar tallied 3 goals and added 1 assist for Penn Yan. Ayden Mowry added 2 goals while Austin Blumbergs chipped a goal and an assist. Chase Blumbergs, Devon Gerhardt, and Clay Kinyoun also scored goals for Penn Yan. Dylan Stape also notched a goal and an assist. Max Brodman picked up an assist. Jeff Kinyoun recorded 11 saves in goal for the victorious Mustangs.
Penn Yan 5 Mynderse 4
The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s lacrosse team picked up their second win of the young season with a 5-4 victory over Mynderse in Penn Yan April 10. Penn Yan improves their early season mark to 2-0 with the win.
Sydney Bloom and Hannah Keech tallied 2 goals each to lead the Penn Yan offensive charge against the visiting Blue Devil girls. Alison Winslow added the other Orange and Blue goal. Hayley Andersen, Elissa Callaway, Grace Ledgerwood, and Alli Olevnik added assists. Alex Cox picked up the win in goal for the Penn Yan girls.
Waterloo 14 Marcus Whitman 3
Waterloo defeated the Marcus Whitman Wildcat girls 14-3 in Gorham April 10. The loss evened Whitman’s record to 1-1. Individual statistics were not available for this contest.
