The Penn Yan Mustang track and field teams played host to a five-school meet at Mustang Field April 25. Teams from Marion, Sodus, Clyde/Savannah, and Gananda traveled to Penn Yan to participate in the events.

In the girl’s competition, Marion was the top point-getter with 144 team points. Penn Yan came in second place with 73 points followed by Sodus (56), Clyde-Savannah (52), and Gananda (17). Penn Yan’s Joddie Decker enjoyed a productive afternoon, winning three events. She came in first place in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m events. Teammate Maci Nicholson came in second place in the 1500m and 3000m. Nicholson garnered a first-place finish in the 400m hurdles. Also for Penn Yan, Emma Harling won the shot put event and the Mustang 4 x 400m relay team of Samantha D’Arpino, Allyssa Johnson, Mary Ingram, and Lizzy Benson also scored a first-place finish. Rounding out the Mustang girls scoring was a first-place finish in the 4 x 800m relay event. Mary Ingram, Samantha D’Arpino, Joddie Decker, and Maci Nicholson ran the winning race for the Orange and Blue.

In the boy’s events, the Mustang boys came in 4th place with 40 points. Clyde-Savannah came in first place with 144 points. For the Mustang boy’s, Ben DeMoras won three competitions. He finished in first place in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m events. Jason Bogart garnered a 4th place finish in the 800m while Conner Moore finished in 4th place in the 3200m. Penn Yan’s Dominick Lafferty finished in 3rd place in the 400m hurdles. The Mustang 4 x 800m relay team of Jason Bogart, Parker Palmisano, Conner Moore, and Peyton Silliman came in 3rd place.

Dundee Boys win meet at home

The Dundee Scots boy’s track and field team scored a first placed finish April 25 in Dundee. The Scotsmen finished with 86 team points in the 5 school events. Newark came in second place with 78 points, while Bloomfield/Honeoye, Lyons, and Red Jacket finished with 66, 62, and 62 respectively.

Dundee’s William Hall picked up two first-place finishes for the Scotsmen harriers. He won the 100m and the long jump events. Hall also joined Preston Cratsley, Austin Brace, and Nic Laursen to pick up a first-place finish in the 4 x 100m relay event. Dundee’s Leif Hoyt also won the discus event.

The Dundee Scot girl’s team finished in 5th place with 17 points. Red Jacket won the competition with 114.33 points. Lilly Hall scored a first-place finish in the long jump event for Dundee.
