The Penn Yan Mustang baseball team quickly rebounded from their loss to Mynderse earlier in the week. The Mustangs traveled to Waterloo Thursday afternoon to take on the Indians in a Finger Lakes East League contest. The Orange and Blue diamond crew was up to the task, easily defeating their guest 16-4. The victory was Penn Yan’s 7th league win in 9 tries. They are 9-4 overall.
Senior Derrick Riviello gained the win on the mound. He went 6 innings and struck out 10 Waterloo batters. Riviello also collected 2 hits. Brennan Prather, Donny McMahon, and Matt Moniot also banged out 2 hits each for the Mustang nine. McMahon and Noah Detar drove in 3 runs each.
Red Jacket 17 Marcus Whitman 0
The Marcus Whitman Wildcat baseball team dropped a 17-0 decision to Red Jacket in a Finger Lakes West game played in Manchester on Tuesday afternoon. Kyle Copper and Parker Smith collected hits for the Whitman Wildcats.
Bloomfield 3 Dundee 0
Bloomfield shutout Dundee 3-0 in Dundee Tuesday afternoon. Bloomfield’s Trevor Robinson tossed a perfect game in this Finger Lakes West tilt. He struck out 17 Dundee batters en route to the win.
Mynderse 17 Penn Yan 2
The Mynderse Blue Devils defeated Penn Yan 17-2 May 1 in Penn Yan. Kayla Andersen had 2 hits for Penn Yan. Thursday afternoon in Waterloo, the Mustang softball team also dropped a 11-9 decision to Waterloo in another Finger Lakes East contest. The loss drops Penn Yan’s FL East record to 4-5. They are 4-7 overall.
South Seneca 8 Marcus Whitman 7
The Marcus Whitman Wildcat softball team dropped an 8-7 decision to South Seneca in the first game of a doubleheader played in Gorham May 1. Leah Preston had 2 hits and 2 rbi’s for the Wildcats.

In the night cap, South Seneca pushed across a run in the 5th inning to break a 3-3 tie and defeated the Wildcat girls 4-3. Amber LeMay had a double and 2 RBI’s for Whitman. Lilly Chrysler scored two runs for the Wildcats.
Penn Yan 4 Pal-Mac 1
The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s tennis team scored a 4-1 win over Pal-Mac in Penn Yan May 1. The victory improves the Mustang Finger Lakes East League mark to 1-2. They are 4-3 overall.
Lukas Spears and Alex Theismeyer picked wins in their singles matches for Penn Yan. The Mustang doubles teams of Jeremy Fenton /Connor Hunter and Reid Castner/Spencer Christensen also delivered key team wins for the Orange and Blue.
HAC 5 Marcus Whitman 0
The HAC Wolf boy’s tennis team shutout Marcus Whitman 5—0 in Brighton May 2. Whitman falls to 3-7 overall with the loss.
Penn Yan 11 Geneva 7
The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s lacrosse team rebounded from their 14-13 overtime loss to Marcus Whitman Tuesday afternoon to defeat Geneva 11-7. The hometown Mustang girls jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the first half and carried that margin to a 11-7 victory over the Panther girls. The win improves Penn Yan’s overall season ark to 7-3.
Hannah Keech led the Mustang’s offense with 4 goals and 1 assist. Elissa Callaway and Sydney Bloom scored 3 goals each for Penn Yan. They both added assists to their scoring numbers. Alli Olevnik also scored a goal and dished out an assist. Alex Cox had 8 saves in the nets for Penn Yan.
Mynderse/Romulus 15 Marcus Whitman 10
In other Finger Lakes League action on Thursday, Mynderse/Romulus defeated Marcus Whitman 15-10. The loss drops Whitman’s season record to 6-4. The game scoring book for Whitman was not available.

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy’s lacrosse team defeated Waterloo 13-11 in Gorham Thursday afternoon. Seth Benedict scored 4 goals and added 2 assist for the Wildcats. DeCouteau Blueye also tallied 4 goals for Whitman. Timmy Cornish and Schuyler Bredesen scored 2 goals each. Cornish dished out 4 assists while Bredesen added 1 assist. Ezera Jones picked up a goal and ryan Herod an assist for the Wildcats. Michael Dhondt recorded 11 saves in the nets for Whitman (5-7).
