The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s lacrosse team faced off with their rivals from Geneva High May 15 in Geneva at Loman Field. After each team scored a goal in the opening period, the Orange and Blue boys tallied 5 goals in the second quarter to grab a 6-2 lead at the half. The Mustangs made that advantage hold up in the second half to walk off with a 7-4 victory. With the regular season schedule rapidly winding down, the Mustang laxers improved their season mark to 9-4. Geneva falls to 9-6.
The Mustang offense was sparked by 3 goals from Colton Smith. Austin Blumbergs added 2 goals and an assist while teammates Dylan Stape and Conner Fingar tallied a goal each. Ayden Mowry and Devon Gerhart dished out 2 and 1 assists respectively. Jeff Kinyoun played well in the nets for Penn Yan. He recorded 8 saves to preserve the Mustang win.
Marcus Whitman 17 Livonia 4
The Marcus Whitman Wildcat girl’s lacrosse team scored 11 goals in the first half and easily rolled over Livonia 17-4 in Gorham May 15. The victory was Whitman’s 9th in 15 tries this season. Emily Thompson led the Whitman attack with 6 goals and an assist. Kelsey Tiffany added 5 goals and 3 assists. Rounding the Marcus Whitman scoring ledger was Maddie Ryan (2 goals), Katrina Marten (1 goal), Jamie Colf (1 goal), Emily Paddock (1 goal), Ellie Nemitz (1 goal/1 assist), Grace Morse ( 1 assist), and Charlotte Alvord (1 assist).
