Penn Yan Girls 15 Gananda 3

The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s lacrosse team will advance to play Aquinas in the Section V Class D semi-finals May 25 at Mynderse Academy. The #2 seed Mustang girls advanced by defeating #7 Gananda 15-3 in the quarter-final opener played in Penn Yan May 22. Aquinas is the #3 seed team in Class D.

Penn Yan jumped out to a 9-2 in the first half in Tuesdays game against Gananda. They added 6 more goals in the second half to walk off with the opening round win. Sydney Bloom tallied 5 goals and added an assist to pace the Orange and Blue attack. Elissa Callaway notched 4 goals in the Mustang win. Also scoring for Penn Yan, Sydney Hulse (2 goals), Alison Winslow (1 goal), Hanna Brodman ( 1 goal), Bre Lane-Tomion ( 1 goal), and Lexi Strong ( 1 assist). Alexandra Cox recorded 8 saves to help preserve the Penn Yan victory.

Penn Yan improved their season record to 11-4 with the win. Aquinas enters Friday’s semifinal game with a 12-7 record.

Pal-Mac Girls 16 Marcus Whitman 7

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat girl’s lacrosse team was eliminated from Section V Class D play May 22 in Palmyra. The #5 seed Whitman girls dropped a 16-7 decision to #4 Pal-Mac in Tuesday quarter-final game. The Red Raiders grabbed a 4-2 lead at the half and easily pulled away in the second half outscoring the visiting Wildcats 12-5. Emily Paddock scored 4 goals for Whitman while Emily Thompson, Charlotte Alvord, and Ellie Nemitz picked up 1 goal each. Nemitz and Kelsey Tiffany added assists.

Marcus Whitman ends their season with a 10-7 record.

Marcus Whitman boys 9 Waterloo 7

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy’s lacrosse team dropped a 9-7 decision to #9 seed Waterloo May 21 in Gorham. The loss in the Class D play-out game ends the Wildcat’s season. Marcus Whitman falls to 6-11 with the their final 2018 loss. The game was closely fought with the teams ending the first half tied at 5. But the visiting Indians outscored their host 4-2 in the second half to gain the winning margin. Up next for the (3-14) Waterloo Indians, a trip to Penn Yan to take on the #1 seed Mustangs.
