Five Dundee athletes (four boys and one girl) and three Penn Yan athletes won individual championship titles.

The Dundee Scot boy’s track and field team scored 118 team points at the Section V Class D meet on Friday, May 25, at Marion High School. Their team effort resulted in a Section V Class D championship for the Scotsmen, and five Dundee athletes won individual titles which they will carry to the state qualifer meet June 1 at Caledonia-Mumford School.

Wylie Hall came in first place in the long jump and triple jump events. Preston Cole won the shot put event and Leif Hoyt came in first place in the discus. Sam Richards brought home first place honors in the pole vault. Billy Bowers came in 2nd place in that event. Also enjoying success for the Scotsmen at Marion was Matt Wood with 2nd place finishes in the 800m and 1600m. Teammate Josh Kane garnered a 4th place finish in the long jump. Josh Cramer a 3rd place finish in the 400m hurdles, Julian Ortiz 3rd place in the high jump, and Gabe Kirkendall finished in 3rd place in the pentathlon high jump. Preston Cratsley and Austin Brace finished 4th and 5th in the 200m.

Dundee girls

In the Class D girl’s competition, Dundee’s 7th grader Lily Hall came in first place in the triple jump. With her older brother Wylie winning the triple jump, the Hall family of Dundee made a clean sweep of Friday’s triple event at the Section V meet.

Three Penn Yan girls win Section V titles

The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s track and field team competed in the Section V Class B meet at Avon High School Saturday, May 26.

For the Mustang girl’s team, Joddie Decker finished in first place in the 3000m event and also came in 5th place in the 1500m. Teammate Maci Nicholson garnered a first place finish in the 2000m steeplechase and Emma Harling won the shot put event. Harling also came in 2nd place in the discus. The Mustang girl’s team finished in 5th place overall with 40 team points. The Wayne team came in 1st place with 116 points.

Penn Yan boys

In the Class B boy’s meet, Penn Yan’s Ben DeMoras came in 2nd place in the 1600m event. The Mustang boy’s finished in 15th place with 8 points. University Prep Rochester came in first place with 125 points.

Marcus Whitman boys

In the Class CC competition, the Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy’s team came in 4th place with 52 points. Leroy came in first place with 111 points. Dominick Morey won the high jump and long jump pentathlon for the Wildcats. He also finished in 2nd place in the 1500m pentathlon. Gabe Stash came in 2nd place in the 3200m event. Whitman’s Liam Prendergast and Aiden Royston finished in 3rd and 4th place respectively in that event. Royston also finished in 3rd place in the 3200m event. Jake Abel finished in 2nd place in the 400m hurdles.

Marcus Whitman girls

In the Class CC girl’s meet, Marcus Whitman’s Hailey Rossi finished in 7th place in the 800m and in 4th place in the 2000m steeplechase. Bailey Robinson finished in 7th place in the shot put. Grace Blankenberg garnered a 3rd place finish in the discus.
