When the Penn Yan Cross Country team participated in the LeRoy XCross Country Invitational Sept. 22, the girls. led by Joddie Decker, took 3rd place for the large school division. Decker finished in third place overall; Maci Nicholson came in 12, Jaina Doyle, 14th, Gracie Murphy, 16th, and Jenna Curbeau 37. They competed against Pittsford Sutherland, Clarence, LeRoy, Batavia, Alden, Livonia, and Bath-Haverling.

Ayden Mowrey posted the best time for the Penn Yan boys, finishing 16th.

Marcus Whitman meet

The Penn Yan Mustang and Dundee Scots cross country athletes competed in a multi-school meet held at Marcus Whitman Sept. 19. Penn Yan, Dundee, Clyde-Savannah, Lyons, East Rochester, and host Marcus Whitman participated. In the boy’s competition, the East Rochester and Dundee teams ran incomplete. The Whitman Wildcat boy’s team finished in first place overall, edging out Penn Yan.

For Whitman, Aidan Royston finished in 2nd place while teammate Liam Prendergast came in 3rd place. Ayden Mowry and Alex Lyons finished in 5th and 6th place respectively for Penn Yan. Dundee’s Matt Wood finished in 7th place.

On the girl’s side. The Orange and Blue runners of Penn Yan finished in first place. Penn Yan’s Joddie Decker finished in first place edging out teammate Maci Nicholson. Grace Murphy finished strong in 4th place. Marcus Whitman’s best finisher was Emma MacDowell.
