Penn Yan 3, Palmyra-Macedon 2

With a victory over Pal-Mac Sept. 27, the Penn Yan Girl's Tennis team has secured the top seed in the Section V Tournament, which begins Monday, Oct. 1.

Molly and Claire Pullen both won their singles matches for the Mustangs.

Molly defeated Renee Wilsey 6-1 in both sets and Claire defeated Grace Stiner 6-4 (6-0). Sydney Moravec and Abby Garvey picked up Penn Yan’s final victory after defeating Alexandra Christman and Alea Javorowski 6-1 (7-5).

The girl's individual tournament will be held Friday, Oct. 5 in Pittsford. The Sectional Semifinals will be held Oct. 12 and Finals will be held Oct. 13. The Intersectional Tournament will also be held in Pittsford Oct. 18 and 19.

Penn Yan remains undefeated at 12-0 overall.

The Penn Yan Mustangs (4-1) outlasted the Newark Reds (3-2) Friday night, Sept. 28 in Newark. Details will be available in the Oct. 3 Chronicle-Express.

The Dundee Scots (3-2) scored a late touchdown in their Sept. 29 homecoming game to lift the final score to 28-20 over Red Jacket in a hard-fought game that kept the fans on their feet through the final snap. Details will be available in the Oct. 3 Chronicle-Express.

Boy's Soccer

Marcus Whitman 2, Waterloo 1

Caleb McDonough’s 97th minute goal propelled the Wildcats over Waterloo Sept. 29.

Zachary Lovejoy assisted on the game winning goal. Dawsen Christensen scored the first goal for Marcus Whitman in the 37th minute, Jordan Lahue assisted on the play.

Zachary Payne made 23 saves in net for Marcus Whitman (6-5-0).

Harley Allendale-Columbia 3, Marcus Whitman 1

Roman Novy-Marx scored a game-high two goals for Harley Allendale-Columbia Sept. 26.

Teammate Adrian Fuller scored the team’s other goal. John Phillips made four saves in net for Harley Allendale-Columbia.

Jordan Lahue scored the Wildcats only goal. Teammate Zach Payne recorded 12 saves in net.

Girl's Soccer

Waterloo 3, Marcus Whitman 2

Nichaela Commisso led the Wildcats with a goal and an assist in the Sept. 29 game.

Charlotte Alford also found the back of the net for Marcus Whitman. Makayla Selvek made 13 saves in net for the Wildcats.

Naples 4, Marcus Whitman 0

Madison Pickering and Caroleyn LaPrairie each scored in the first half for Naples Sept. 27.

Anna Quarterman and Gianna Vest both scored in the second half for Naples. Katey Lincoln recorded two assists on the game and Pickering added one.

Jesse Gordon made four saves in net for Naples. Marcus Whitman goalkeeper Makayla Selvek recorded 14 saves.

With the win, Naples (8-2-1) secured second place in the Finger Lakes West league.
