Geneva 38

The Distaff Mustangs made it a perfect winning week with a thrilling, last second 39-38 win over rival Geneva in Penn Yan on Friday evening.  The huge win avenged an earlier loss in Geneva.  The Orange and Blue cagers grabbed victory out of the jaws of defeat with some real late game heroics in this low-scoring defensive battle.
Penn Yan’s hero of the hour was Emily Simpson. She calmly sank two free throws with just two seconds left on the clock to change a 1-point deficit into a 1-point lead.
The hometown Mustangs exited the court at the final buzzer with a big 39-38 league win.
One of the keys to the Penn Yan win was their work on the backboards.  Roddenbery pulled down eight rebounds and Catherine Andersen grabbed seven.
On the scoring ledger for Penn Yan, Roddenbery tallied 14 points to lead the Orange and Blue in that department.  Andersen added 10 points and Emily Simpson, 8.  The Lady Mustangs improve the season record to 8-3 overall, 5-3 in the Finger Lakes East.

It was a memorable evening for the talented Dundee guard.
