The Dundee Scots basketball team notched two more key Finger Lakes West I wins last week to improve their season record to 11-1 overall and 8-1 in the league.  The talented Scots are in second place just behind the Mynderse Blue Devils.
The two teams will meet again this season with the title probably on the line.
Dundee used a stout defense and some key scoring to defeat Red Jacket 51-48 in Dundee on Tuesday night.
The Dundee defense stopped Red Jacket three straight times in the final minute and captured the win with some key free throw conversions.
Joe Tortolon canned two charity tosses in the waning seconds to secure the big league win.
Garrick Conyers led the Dundee offense with 20 points. Joe Tortolon added 11 points.
The red hot Scots continued to roll on Thursday evening in Naples.  Dundee piled up a 17 point halftime lead over the Big Green  and cruised the rest of the way to a 68-46 win.  A 24-6 run in the first half keyed this Scotsmen romp.
Tortolon delivered 19 points to lead the Maroon and White scoring barrage. Ryan Ballard and Dustin Warren both contributed 11 points in the Dundee winning effort.

Wayne 60
Penn Yan  43

The Penn Yan Mustang Boy’s basketball team continued to unsuccessfully look for that elusive initial victory of the campaign.
On Tuesday night at home, their opponent was Finger Lakes East rival Wayne.
The Mustangs have been playing with only 8 players recently.  But Tuesday that ever present invasive foe, the winter flu bug further diminished their ranks.
Penn Yan had to supplement their roster with three call ups from the Junior Varsity team.
It was definitely one of these situations, “when it rains, it pours,” for the local hoopsters.  The hometown Mustangs battled hard but come up short once again.
Wayne defeated the even younger than usual  Mustangs 60-43.  Anthony Luppino led the Penn Yan offense with 16 points including two 3-pointers.
Myles Volz, Dylan Force and Nate Spoor each scored 7 points for Penn Yan.

Geneva 69
Penn Yan 46

On Friday evening in Geneva, the Panthers jumped ahead 33-17 at the half and waltzed to an easy 69-46 Finger Lakes East victory.
The loss dropped Penn Yan’s season mark to 0-11 overall, 0-8 in the league.  Luppino and Cody Richardson scored 7 points each to lead the Orange and Blue in scoring.

Pal-Mac 36
Marcus Whitman 29

In other local boy’s high school basketball action, Marcus Whitman lost to Pal-Mac 36-29 on Tuesday night in Gorham. Cal Andrews scored 13 points and Collin Ayers 10 for the Wildcats.

Newark 92
Marcus Whitman 38

On Friday evening in Newark, the Reds manhandled Whitman 92-38.  A 47-19 first half run by Newark quickly sealed the Wildcat’s fate in this contest.
Andrews was once again Whitman’s top scorer with 15 points.  Jack Meyer and Nate Miller both tossed in 6 points for Whitman (1-7,3-9).
