<b>Boys Soccer<\/b>\n\nPenn Yan Academy\u2019s Landon Berry was awarded the Finger Lakes Player of the Year. Berry was nominated by PYA coach Jason Hassos. A year-round soccer player, Berry was a Senior Captain this season, playing as a center midfielder and known as a playmaker. Berry led the Finger Lakes League in assists in 2022 and was a key element in PY\u2019s trip to the Sectional Final match. During the Fall season, Berry was named Finger Lakes Player of the Week, a Senior All-Star and was named to the All-Section Tournament team along with teammates Thomas Barden and Zack Townley.\n\n<b>Nov. 5 Finger Lakes Boys Exceptional Senior Game at Penn Yan Academy<\/b>\n\nThe Finger Lakes League held their Exceptional Senior game in Penn Yan. The game puts together the top Senior players from across the Finger Lakes League. Penn Yan Academy players in the game included David Reid-Garc\u00e9s, Landon Berry, Thomas Barden, Zackary Townley, and Carson Nagpaul, playing on the Finger Lakes West team. Finger Lakes West won the match 2-1.\n\n<b>Nov. 6 Section V Boys Senior All-Star Game at McQuaid Jesuit High School<\/b>\n\nThe 2022 Section V All-Star game was held at McQuaid Jesuit High School, featuring invited representatives from all ten leagues in Section V. The event is a perennial stop for college coaches and scouts. Penn Yan\u2019s David Reid-Garc\u00e9s made the list of invited players. Reid-Garc\u00e9s scored a goal for the All-Star West team and was awarded Offensive Player of the Game.\n\n<b>Cross Country Nov. 12 New York State Cross Country Championships at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School<\/b>\n\nThe New York State Cross Country Championships were held at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, just a stone\u2019s throw from Turning Stone Casino. Penn Yan Academy\u2019s James \u201cJD\u201d Tette not only qualified for the run after winning Section V\u2019s Class C Championships, but entered the Class C State meet with the second-highest speed rating behind Oyster Bay\u2019s Christopher Tardugno. Tette finished 8th overall for individual runners with a final time of 17:25. Marcus Whitman entered the meet with the 9th overall team speed rating, finishing 10th overall. Section 5 finished 8th in Class C in both the Boys and Girls divisions.\n\nIn Class D, Sectional champ Connor Domoy (Oakfield-Alabama), entered the meet with the second highest speed rating, followed closely by Bloomfield\/Naples\u2019 Jude Rischpater and Drew Reigelsperger, almost mirroring what was seen in the Class D Sectional Championships. Reigelsperger finished 5th overall, while Rischpater finished 7th. Section 5 finished 1st overall for Class D Boys and 2nd for Class D Girls.
