The term “arrested” does not always mean someone was held in jail. Following an investigation into drug sales in Yates County, Aaron D. Richardson 31, of Dundee, was arrested Nov. 17 by Sheriff’s Deputies executed a search warrant. He was charged with the following: criminal sale of a controlled substance fifth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance fifth degree (class D felonies), two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of a weapon fourth degree, and criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree (class A misdemeanors). Assisting in the arrest were Ontario County Sheriff’s Office ERT, Yates County OEM, Dundee Fire, Dundee Ambulance, Town of Starkey Highway Dept. Penn Yan Police arrested Adam R. Kehoe, 27 of Penn Yan, during a traffic stop on Brown Street. Prior to the traffic stop, a registration check was conducted of the vehicle which showed it to be expired. Upon making contact with Kehoe during the traffic stop, a license check showed his driving privileges were suspended in NYS for failing to answer a summons in Ontario County, NY. Kehoe was cited for the offenses and released to appear in court at a later date. A car vs. horse & buggy crash occurred at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. Yates County Deputies and Emergency Management, Benton Fire Dept., Penn Yan and Gorham Ambulance Corps, Medic 55, and Mercy Flight responded to the scene at Lovejoy Road near Baldwin Road in the Town of Benton. Investigation revealed that the horse & buggy was occupied by Ivan Martin, 26, Wilma Martin, 28, of Herkimer, with their two children ages 2 years and 10 months. The Martins were traveling south on Lovejoy Road when their buggy was struck from behind by a fourdoor sedan driven by Linda Gavigan, 52, of Penn Yan. The Martin family were ejected and the buggy came to rest on its side in the ditch on the west side of the roadway. Wilma Martin and her 10-month-old child were flown to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester via Mercy Flight for child’s injuries. Wilma was uninjured. Ivan Martin and 2-and-a-half-year-old child were also taken to Strong Memorial Hospital via Penn Yan Ambulance for the child’s injuries. Ivan was uninjured. Both children were treated and have since been discharged from the hospital. The Yates County Accident Investigation Unit also responded to the scene. Gavigan was charged with following too closely, imprudent speed approaching a horse, and failure to use due care approaching a horse. Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies and Branchport/Keuka Park Fire Dept. responded to a vehicle fire at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 20 on Italy Hill Road in Jerusalem. Driver Xavier D. Kula, 19, of Prattsburgh, attempted to climb the snow-covered road andoverworked the vehicle to the point that it overheated and started to smoke. Kula removed the vehicle from the roadway into a parking lot, where it then became fully engulfed in flames. He escaped without injuries. Firefighters extinguished the fire, but not before another vehicle nearby sustained heat damage. Kula’s vehicle was a total loss. Andrea M. Bailey 34, of Dundee was arrested Nov. 24 by Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies for 2nd degree Criminal Contempt 2nd for violating a court order at a residence in the Town of Barrington. She was taken to the Yates County Public Safety Building for arraignment
