<i>The Chronicle-Express</i> <b>Nov. 30 Dundee/Bradford 63, Addison 49</b> Dundee/Bradford opened up their season with a win, taking down Addison. Camden Rosemier led the BraveScots with 20 points. Also for D/B, Ryan McTamney scored 15 points, while Aidan Webster scored nine and hauled in seven rebounds in his first varsity game. <b>Marion 43, Naples 35</b> Naples’ first game of the season ended in a loss, with the Green falling to Marion by eight points. <b>Dec. 2 Midlakes 66, Penn Yan 57</b> A hard-fought contest saw Penn Yan lose their season’s opening game against Midlakes. Both teams brought intensity to the match, with several multi-player spills during the game and several dynamic players on either side, especially Owen Guest for Midlakes and Carter Earl for Penn Yan. Guest was particularly adept at drawing fouls from the Mustangs during the match. The game was close at the beginning, with the first period ending in a 16-16 tie, but the Eagles began to pull away after that, leading by a margin of 10 or more points through most of the second half. For the Eagles, Kyle Kumkey led with 24 points, going 7/8 in free throws, while Guest scored 13. For PY, Earl was the top scorer of the game with 26 points, while Tanyon Dunning scored 10. <b>Dec. 3 HAC 65, Dundee/ Bradford 58</b> The BraveScots lost to HAC, dropping to 1-1. For Dundee/ Bradford, Camden Rosemier scored 18 points, while Aidan Webster and Nick Slavick each scored 10. <b>Dansville 40, Marcus Whitman 37</b> Whitman lost a close one in Dansville, falling in their first game of the season. It was also Dansville’s opening game, starting the Mustangs off with a win. <b>Girls Basketball</b> <b>Nov. 30 Livonia 61, Penn Yan 29 </b><b>Penn Yan 38 </b>Leading off the Winter season, the Mustangs took one on the chin, falling to Livonia by over 30 points. Taylor Mullins led Penn Yan with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven steals. Also for PYA, Corinne Barden scored six points, Bailey Cooper scored five and Makenna Mullins had three points and seven rebounds. <b>Dec. 3 Dundee/Bradford 55, </b>Dundee/Bradford got a big win to start the season, beating Penn Yan by almost 20 points. It was PY’s second loss in a row, dropping the Mustangs to 0-2. D/B’s vets led the day, with Kendall Parker racking up 23 points for the BraveScots, also grabbing four steals, while Kailey Yeoman scored 18. Mikayla Schoffer led the ‘Scots in rebounds (7) and blocks (6). Yeoman and Shoffner, both Juniors, have been mainstays of the ‘Scots for the last three years, while Sophomore and Captain Kendall Parker has been playing for the last four. By comparison, PY has a team primarily composed of Freshman players, with only two spots on the roster carrying over from last year. Dundee/ Bradford’s next game will be in Bloomfield on the 7th, while PY will take on a visiting Waterloo on the 9th. <b>Wrestling</b> <b>Dec. 1 East Rochester 33, Penn Yan 30</b> The Mustangs lost a close match to East Rochester to open the season. ER had wins with Samuel Carey over Cullen Maher (pin 1:37), Abdul Shohaib Yousifzai over Aiden Smith (12-7 decision) and Derek Geronimo over David Young (pin 1:40). For Penn Yan, Jacob Eaves beat Steven McCann by pin (1:06), Jayden Reid beat Yomal Marcial by pin (2:37) and Reed Bouchard took down Markus McClurkin by pin (1:59). <b>Dec. 3 Avoca/Prattsburgh Duals at Avoca HS</b> At the AP Duals, Dundee finished 4th overall, going 3-2, while Penn Yan finished in 9th, going 0-4. Williamson won the day, going 4-1, with Portville in 2nd, going 3-1 overall. Dundee lost 48-8 to Bath Haverling, dominated Arkport with a 57-6 win, fell 39-36 to Avoca/Prattsburgh, beat Addison 36-28 and won 42-24 over Alfred-Almond. Penn Yan lost 42-21 against Portville, 33-27 against Avoca/ Prattsburgh, 42-30 against Alfred-Almond and 36-30 against Arkport. <b>Boys Swimming</b> <b>Dec. 1 Geneva/Mynderse 93, Marcus Whitman 66</b> Wins for Geneva/ Mynderse included the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relay, Christopher Woody in the 200 IM (2:19) and Gerard Humiston in the 50 Free (24.92). For Whitman, Brendan Laity took the 200 Free (1:57) and 100 Backstroke (1:03), Carl Parsons took the 100 Free (52.48) and 100 Breast (1:08), Gabriel Johnson took the 100 Butterfly (1:05) and the Wildcats won the 400 Freestyle Relay. <b>Naples 87, North Rose-Wolcott 85</b> Wins for Naples included Owen Yates in the 200 Free (2:10) and 500 Free (6:14), Lukas Hall in the 50 Free (24.56) and 100 Free (57.61) and a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay. NRW took the 200 Medley and Freestyle Relays, Matthew Cole won the 200 IM (2:19) and the 100 Butterfly (1:03), George Plucinik took the 100 Back (1:18) and Matthew Ingersoll won the 100 Breast (1:10).
