Gordon Dale Robeson passed away on Tuesday, November 22 at the age of 87. He was born April 30, 1935, in Ithaca, NY to Howard and Barbara Robeson.
Gordon graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1953. He played many sports and was named 1st team all-conference in basketball in 1952 and 1953. Gordon earned his AAS degree from Alfred State College in New York. He was Captain of the basketball team from 1954-1955 and was awarded the first C. Davis Jr. Athlete of the Year Award. Later, he was inducted into the Alfred State College Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball in 2005.
Gordon enlisted in the Army and graduated from the Army Language School in Monterey, CA. He serviced in the Army Security Agency as a Vietnamese interpreter and was stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. He later earned a BS Degree in International Trade from Kent State University in 1962 where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Gordon spent 35 years in Foreign Trade Marketing with Firestone, The Glidden Company, and SCM Metal Products with extensive travel to Asia and Latin America.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 61 years; his two sons, Stacy (Teresa) of Dallas, TX, and David (Wendy) of Raleigh NC; Five granddaughters, Cara, Lindsey, Ashley, Samantha, and Madeline; and two great-granddaughters, Giavanna, and Brianna. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Alan. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
