YATES COUNTY – The Dresden Methodist Church First Aid Closet is completely out of the most needed items - wheelchairs in particular. At last count, there was only one serviceable wheelchair left. Knee scooters and small shower chairs are also in short supply. The closet can loan other medical equipment but has no more of these most requested items for mobility support. “As we are recovering from COVID, items borrowed during 2020 and 2021 have not been coming back after they are no longer needed,” say First Aid Closet volunteers. So far in 2022, the First Aid Closet has provided items to 514 neighbors. The Closet’s volunteers look forward to serving the community for as long as there are items to share. Since 1970, the Dresden UMC First Aid Closet has loaned medical equipment and other medical supplies at no charge. In order to continue its mission, the First Aid Closet will be open Sundays 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Tuesdays 9:30 am to noon, or by appointment so items can be returned and put back into service for other neighbors who are in desperate need of them. (Please ensure items have been cleaned.) Donations of clean, useable medical equipment will also be gratefully accepted. The First Aid Closet is located on Avenue A in Dresden.
