ROCHESTER – Barbara J. News Fonti passed peacefully January 10, 2023, after a short illness. Born August 19, 1943, and raised in Penn Yan, Barbara graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1962. One of her first jobs, which she remembered fondly, was waitressing at The Koffee Den for Jimmy and Genny Carroll.Barb moved to Rochester and married Sam Fonti. They had two children, Jessica and David.

She worked many years for Eastman Kodak. Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Jennie News Larder and Allan News; and her step-parents, Robert and Marjorie Larder. She is survived by her children, Jessica Gebhardt and David Fonti, both of Rochester; sisters Patricia News Cass of Florida and New York, and Jennie E. Larder of Texas; grandsons Benjamin, William, and Joshua Gebhardt, and Michael Fonti; and nieces Carrie Walton, Patricia Smith, and Polly Coulard. Barb loved animals and she is now reunited with her beloved pups, Maggie, Brandy, and Poochie. Kindly consider a donation to Lollipop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, N.Y. 14450.
