Yates County Clerk Lois HallPENN YAN - After 20 years with Yates County, County Clerk Lois Hall will be retiring in Dec. 2023 rather than seeking a third term. Hall’s career began at Jolley Chevrolet car dealership in Penn Yan in 1974. She then went on to Community Bank in 1995. Her long experience in customer service positions specific to accounting and automobile paperwork led her naturally to accept a position with the Yates County DMV office in 2003. “Customer service has always been my number one priority,” says Hall. “During my time here as County Clerk, I have begun E-filing with the courts and E-Recording of land records. I was most happy to play a role in the addition of much needed security in the county office building. During the Covid 19 Pandemic shutdown, “It has been a pleasure to serve the people of Yates County over these years. I have certainly enjoyed meeting so many people and assisting them in the DMV office and the Clerk’s office.” Yates County’s offices were kept open with a skeleton crew, processing only what was allowed by the state. Under Hall’s leadership, the reopening of services and work to catch up on all the deferred filings has been done efficiently. “It has been a pleasure to serve the people of Yates County over these years. I have certainly enjoyed meeting so many people and assisting them in the DMV office and the Clerk’s office. I have also made many friends in my time here who means so much to me. I would like to thank my staff as well for all of their hard work and support.” During retirement, Hall says she is looking forward to changing her priorities, spending time with her grandchildren and having more free time.
