Shirley M. Jensen, 92, of Penn Yan, N.Y., died on February 12, 2023, at Keuka Comfort Care Home.
Friends called at Penn Yan United Methodist Church, 166 Main St., Penn Yan on Saturday, February 18t from 10 – 11 a.m. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. at the church, followed by a reception. Burial will at the convenience of the family.
Shirley M. (Larsen) Jensen was born on June 4, 1930, in Geneva, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ernest and Esther (Jensen) Larsen. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1948. She married Clarence Jensen on September 10, 1949. She was a member of Penn Yan United Methodist Church, a founding member of the Sisters of Wendia Lodge 172, for over 70 years. She loved baking, knitting, and her flowers. She was employed at Penn Yan Central School District for more than 23 years, first as a baker in the elementary school, and working her way up to Food Service Director, before she retired in 1994.
She is survived by her three children, Erik W. Jensen of Venice, Fla., Greg E. Jensen of Boulder, Colo., and Gail D. Owen of Penn Yan; grandchildren, Dawn Jensen, Tina (Ron) Smith, Timothy Jensen, Joshua, and Jordan Owen; two great-grandchildren, Raina Smith and Kai Owen; sister Darlene (William) DeVaney of Geneva; brother-in-law, Harry Jensen of Washington; and several good friends and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Jensen, of 57 years, and her sisters Marjorie (Vose) Dingledein and Dianne Alexander.
