DAVID MILLER

DAVID MILLER
March 15, 2023
in Obituaries

David Miller, a devoted family man, horse enthusiast, and truck driver, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the age of 74 in Penn Yan, N.Y.

Raised by Dorcas Miller, David discovered his passion for truck driving at an early age and spent most of his life on the road, traveling across the country and delivering goods to various destinations. He loved the sense of freedom and adventure that came with his profession and his dedication and hard work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients.

When he wasn’t on the road, David spent his time working with horses, a lifelong passion that brought him great joy and fulfillment. He had a special connection with these magnificent animals and was known for his patience, kindness, and expertise in training them. He often shared his love of horses with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and passed down his knowledge and skills to the next generation.

In addition to his love for horses, David devoted his time to driving the Mennonite community, particularly the school children from Pine Grove, with his van. He was known for his dependability, safety, and kindness, and the children loved him dearly. David cherished the opportunity to serve his community in this way and felt privileged to be able to contribute to the education and well-being of the children.

David was a beloved father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. He is survived by his nine children Dave, Teresa, Lisa, Wanda, Tina, Michael, Michelle, Jackie, and Rebecca; 18 grandchildren; and 21 greatgrandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Mike; sisters, Del, and Julie, who will miss him deeply. David was preceded in death by his loving wife Norma Jean, two brothers Wayne and Gary, as well as other close friends and family who will be waiting for him in heaven.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of hard work, kindness, and service will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends for generations to come.

A memorial service to celebrate David’s life was held on Tuesday, March 14 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home the following day, March 15, at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Gorham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pine Grove Mennonite school, which was close to David’s heart; c/o David Miller, 2592 County House Rd., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
