James I. “Jim” Reed, Jr.

 Penn Yan – James I. “Jim” Reed, Jr., 77, passed away at Albany Medical Center on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
 Friends may call Tuesday, April 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellona Cemetery.
 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Yates County, P.O. Box 12, Penn Yan, NY 14527; or to the Himrod Volunteer Fire Department, 3530 Himrod Rd., Himrod, NY 14842.
 Jim was born August 25, 1945, to the late James I. Reed, Sr. and Mildred Ross Reed. He grew up in Bellona. Jim graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1964. As a younger man, Jim worked for Covert’s Automotive and Marble’s Automotive. He retired from Knapp & Schlappi Lumber after 30 years of service.
 Jim was an honest, hardworking, caring man. A long-time blood donor, Jim was an active member and held various positions with the Himrod Volunteer Fire Department and the Penn Yan Area Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
 Jim was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and collected Allis Chalmers memorabilia and toy tractors. He enjoyed working in the yard and gardening; and enjoyed country music and attending auctions.
 On August 28, 2010, Jim married Karen Quinn. He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Mary Ann Reed, Liz Reed and James Michael “Mike” Reed; stepson, Alex Kuehne; beloved dogs, Bailey and Riley; brother, Emerson “Gene” (Kathy) Reed; sisters, Abbie (Bob) Church, Sally (Scott) Stearns, Mary (Gilbert) Oswald and Jill (David Lakey) Rapp; mother-in-law, Joanne Quinn; brothers-in-law, Stephen (Robin) Quinn, Michael (Niki) Quinn and David Quinn; several cousins; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; one great-great-nephew; and many good friends.
 Jim was predeceased by his parents; and by his niece Michelle “Shelly” Reed.
