<div class="byline"><b>Rob Maeske </b> <i>The Chronicle-Express</i></div> <b>Harley-Allendale-Columbia 8, Naples 3 </b>HAC handed Naples their first loss of the season, dropping the Big Green Machines to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Finger Lakes. HAC led the game off with three unanswered runs in both the first and second innings. While Naples kept pace in four, five and six, even making up a run, the game ended after six in favor of HAC. Thomas Riveros had four strikeouts for HAC, while their top batter was Salvatore Timpani, who went 2-2 with three runs. <b>Pal-Mac 2, Penn Yan 0</b> The Mustangs took their first league loss of the season, dropping to the Raiders in a two run shutout. It was Pal-Mac’s fourth-straight win. Ian Goodness pitched a complete game, striking out 16 Mustang batters without a walk. Penn Yan pitcher Brady Bouchard had 13 strikeouts and gave up two runs. At the plate for the Raiders, Noah Brooks went 2-3 with an RBI and Goodness got the other RBI. Riley Griffiths had PYA’s only hit. <b>Honeoye 11, Dundee/ Bradford 10</b> DB lost a close one to Honeoye, with the Bulldogs picking up their second win in a row. Dundee/Bradford was 1-4 with the loss. The top batter for Honeoye was Evan Cuba, who had two hits, four runs and an RBI. Also for the Bulldogs, Andrew Fraser had two hits, one run and one RBI and John Gawel had two hits, three runs and two steals. For the BraveScots, Gabe Stiles went 3-4, getting a triple, four RBI and a run. <b>Red Jacket 4, Naples 3 </b>Naples lost by one to Red Jacket, dropping to 6-2. It was a scoreless game until Naples made their three runs in the bottom of the fourth, but the top of the fifth saw RJ get four runners across the plate, which were the last runs scored in the game. RJ’s starting pitcher, Aiden Reed had seven Ks, walking three and allowing the Green’s three runs. Aidan Setter, Jack McHugh, James Sibeto and Hunter Finnick got Red Jacket’s runs. Leading Naples’ batting was Adam Bay, who went 2-3 with a double, an RBI and a run. Also for the Green, Charlie Grove went 2-3 with an RBI and a run; Drew Reigelsperger had a run and was walked three times and Grady Grove singled with an RBI. Grady Grove also pitched most of the game for Naples, allowing three hits and walking six. <b>Apr. 27</b> <b>Wayne 8, Penn Yan 7</b> The Mustangs took a narrow loss to Wayne, dropping to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in the league. PYA led through almost the entire game until Wayne rallied with five runs in the seventh inning, sending the game into an eighth, where Wayne snagged the winning run in the top half. For the Eagles, Peter Treasure Jr. had a two-run double that started Wayne’s comeback, Michael Grasso went 2-5 with a double, a run and an RBI, Kahlen Clark went 2-3 with a run and Kyle Tomaselli had a hit and a run. In Penn Yan pitching, Brady Emerson had 10 strikeouts in five innings, walking one and allowing two runs, Liam Chapman pitched two innings with two Ks and Reed Bouchard came in for the last inning, getting one strikeout and Wayne’s winning run. At PYA’s plate, Chapman went 2-5 with a double, Brady Bouchard went 1-3 with a double and Riley Griffiths went 1-3. <b>Dundee/Bradford 5, Naples 3 </b>The BraveScots got their first league win with a victory over Naples, moving up to 2-4 overall. It was errors that killed the Big Green, with DB getting four of their runs unearned. For the ‘Scots, Chris Clancy had two hits, one RBI and one run and Eli Raplee went 2-4 with a run. For Naples, Oliver Bruen went 3-3 with two RBI, Charlie Grove went 2-3 with a run and Donivan Todd had a hit, a run and an RBI. The loss was Naples’ third in a row, dropping them to 6-3 overall and evening their league record to 3-3. <b>BOYS TRACK & FIELD Apr. 25 at Penn Yan Academy</b> For Penn Yan, JD Tette won the 800m (2:07.21); Tony Sciallo took second in the Shot Put (37-5.00) and the Discus (119-6); Anthony Wheeler took third in the 1600m (5:02.03) and the 800m (2:09.29); Jacob Bertrand took third in the 400m Hurdles (1:14.78); Austin Race took third in the 400m (58.65); Penn Yan took third in the 400m Relay. For Dundee/Bradford, Cam Rosemier won the 110m Hurdles (22.01) and took second in the 400m Hurdles (1:12.16); Riley Teeter won the Shot Put (41.5.50) and Discus (1416); Hayden Erick won the Triple Jump (43-2.00) and Long Jump (21-1.00) and took second in the 100m (12.19) and third in the 200m (24.83); Ryan McTamney took second in the Long Jump (19-1.00) and tied Jakeb Lederman for third in the High Jump (4-9.00); Ian Pavlina took fourth in the 200m (25.46) and the Long Jump (175.00); Ryan Longmore took fourth in the Shot Put (30-4.00); Grady Cole took fifth in the Discus (85-2); Dundee/Bradford took third in the 800m Relay. For Marcus Whitman, Aurora Woodworth won the 1500m (5:36.31) and the 800m (2:40.25); Taylor Bond won the 400m (1:05.82); Lana Burnett took second in the 100m (13.80) and Triple Jump (33-10.25) and fifth in the 200m (29.42); Natalie Chalk took second in the 100m Hurdles (17.59); Olivia Hill took second in the 1500m (5:36.71) and third in the 800m (2:46.04); Lily Carrol took third in the 400m (1:11.36) and fourth in the 800m (2:49.69); Lydia Foust took fourth in the 400m (1:13.30) and fifth in the Triple Jump (27-7.50); Sierra Eddinger took fifth in the Discus (66-7); Whitman won the 800m Relay and took second and third in the 100m Relay. <b>SOFTBALL Apr. 24</b> <b>Naples 15, HAC 12</b> There were plenty of runs in Naples’ game against Harley-Allendale-Columbia, with the Big Green Machines taking the win and moving up to 3-3. <b>Apr. 25</b> <b>Pal-Mac 5, Penn Yan 3 </b>The Red Raiders won over Penn Yan Academy, knocking the Mustangs down to 2-3. Winning pitcher Kiley Dohse pitched six innings and change, striking out eight and giving up three hits. Dohse also singled in the third inning for two RBI. Also batting for Pal-Mac, Shelby Geer went 2-3 with an RBI and a run. For the Mustangs, 7th-grader Morgan Breuer had an RBI and a run, while Abby Fischer, Bri Naprava and Leah Prather all got hits. <b>Apr. 26</b> <b>Dundee/Bradford 15, Honeoye 7</b> The BraveScots got a big win over Honeoye, handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season. Dundee/ Bradford had an explosive performance, leading Honeoye 13-0 by the end of the fourth inning. Morgan Sutryk pitched four innings for DB, getting three strikeouts and allowing three hits before Addie Kendall struck out two batters to end the game. At the plate, Korrin Yeoman went 4-4 with three RBI and two runs, Makayla Schoffner went 3-3 with three RBI and three runs, Maddie Knapp went 2-4 with two RBI, Sutryk went 2-5 with an RBI, Makenna Miller went 2-3 with a run and Adalyn Tham had two hits and two runs. For the Bulldogs, Sydney Pulver went 3-4 with three RBI off a triple, Alexa Colon went 2-4 with an RBI and Ava Higgins got a hit and two RBI. <b>Naples 24, Red Jacket 9 </b>Naples demolished Red Jacket, taking the win by 15 runs and improving to 4-3. <b>Apr. 27</b> <b>Dundee/Bradford 14, Naples 2</b> DB dominated Naples, moving up to 5-3, while the Green fell to 4-4. Addie Kendall pitched a complete game for Dundee/Bradford, getting 10 Ks and allowing six hits and a walk. In BraveScot batting, Kailey Yeoman went 3-5 with two runs and an RBI, Madison Sutryk went 2-3 with two runs and an RBI, Morgan Sutryk went 2-3 with a run and an RBI and Makayla Schoffner and Kendall each had a run and an RBI. Kendra Hulbert got an RBI for Naples. <b>Apr. 28</b> <b>Wayne 14, Penn Yan 10 </b>Wayne came out the victor after eight innings of a high-scoring game against Penn Yan at FLCC. Wayne took the win at the very end, scoring five runs in the top of the eighth. For the Eagles, Zoe Tubiolo went 3-5 with two triples, a double, four RBI and three runs; Tori Mueller went 2-5 with a triple, three RBI and two runs; and Cam Crawford tripled for two RBI. For PYA, Leah Prather went 3-4 with four runs and Bri Naprava went 2-4 with a triple. <b>GIRLS LACROSSE Apr. 24 </b><b>Waterloo/Marcus Whitman 9, Webster Schroeder 7 </b>WMW rallied in the second half of their crossover with Webster Schroeder, improving to 3-3. Schroeder led before the half, ending the first at 5-3, but WMW came back firing, scoring six goals to Schroeder’s two and winning by a deuce. Natalie DiSanto led Waterloo/Whitman with four goals and an assist, while Maci Mueller and Mercedes Kennerson each scored a pair, with Mueller adding two assists. Lindsay Ruffalo was the top scorer for WS, netting three in the game. Winning goalie Madycyn Hurdle made six saves, while Lauren Vitello of WS made 12. <b>Apr. 26 </b><b>Penn Yan 18, Gananda/ Marion 1 </b>The Mustangs kept their undefeated streak alive with a dominant win over GM, moving up to 4-0 in the league and 8-0 overall. PYA put up 16 unanswered points in the first half, with Gananda/Marion avoiding the shutout with one goal in the second thanks to Colleen Ginsberg. For Penn Yan, Bailey Cooper and Gianna Voigt each scored three goals, with Cooper also getting three assists; Corinne Barden and Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger each scored two; Taylor Mullins and Ruby Berry each had a goal and an assist; Kendall Bailey, Brie Struck, Irelynd Densmore, Lila Hansen, Makenna Mullins and Miley Anderson all scored a goal. Marion Wheeler made no saves and allowed no goals in the first half, before being replaced by Megan Wheeler in the second half, who also had no saves and allowed GM’s lone goal. Maria Melnik made five saves for GM. <b>Waterloo/Marcus Whitman 17, Bishop Kearney 5 </b>WMW took a big win over Kearney, winning by a dozen and moving up to 4-3. Waterloo/Whitman scored 12 goals in the first half, with BK only netting a pair. Scoring got closer when the teams came back, but WMW still took the advantage and stopped any kind of comeback dead in its tracks. Maci Mueller scored six goals for Waterloo/Whitman; Natalie DiSanto and Lainie Forde each scored three, DiSanto adding two assists and Forde getting one. Also for WMW, Christina Ross got two goals and an assist and Marissa Russell got one of each. Madycyn Hurdle made four saves for WMW. <b>Apr. 28</b> <b>Penn Yan 9, Pal-Mac 5</b> The top two in the Finger Lakes League, both undefeated, faced off last Friday, with Penn Yan coming out on top with a ninth-straight win and handing Pal-Mac their first loss of the season. PYA outscored the Red Raiders 7-2 in the first half. Pal-Mac had a slight rally in the second half, going 3-2 over Penn Yan, but it wasn’t enough to topple one of the most dominant girls teams Penn Yan has fielded recently. Bailey Cooper led the Mustangs with four goals and an assist. Also for Penn Yan, Taylor Mullins and Corinne Barden each had two goals and an assist and Ruby Berry picked up PYA’s remaining point. Reagan Diehl and Anna Priebe each had two goals for Pal-Mac, with Diehl also getting an assist, Molly Seither had one goal and two assists and Jenna Santelli had two assists. In the nets, PYA’s Marion Wheeler made two saves and Pal-Mac’s Faith Beals made one. <b>Waterloo/Marcus Whitman 11, Greece Storm 9 </b>Waterloo/Whitman made it three in a row, winning by a pair of goals after rallying in the second half. Greece led the start of the game 6-5, but WMW doubled the Storm’s scoring after halftime, locking down the win. Natalie DiSanto, Lainie Forde and Maci Mueller all had three goals in the game, DiSanto and Mueller also getting assists. For the Storm, Alison Dioguardi scored five goals and got three assists and Mara Misiurewicz netted three. In goal for WMW, Madycyn Hurdle made saves, while Greece’s Ava Torrence made 13. <b>BOYS LACROSSE Apr. 25</b> <b>Geneva 11, Marcus Whitman 3</b> The Panthers won the battle of the cats, beating Whitman by eight. With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the Finger Lakes. Geneva was 5-3. The Panthers had the advantage through the whole game, leading 8-3 at the half and adding another three goals in the last two quarters. Ryan Brown scored four goals and an assist for Geneva, Daniel Wright had three goals and an assist and goaltender Dakota Bajdas made seven saves. For Marcus Whitman, Connor Gorton had a goal and an assist, Melkamu and Tariku Blueye each scored a goal and Rylan Weissinger had an assist. Blake Dunton made 20 saves for the Wildcats. <b>Apr. 26 </b> <b>Penn Yan 19, Haverling 0</b> Penn Yan Academy absolutely slaughtered the Haverling Rams, racking up a 19-point shutout in the crossover game and moving up to 5-3 overall. PYA took off like a rocket right from the beginning, scoring 14 unanswered points in the first quarter alone. 10 different players scored for the Mustangs, including 8th-grader Miles Ditzell with the first goal of his varsity career. The rundown for Penn Yan: Teagan Finger (4 goals, 2 assists); Frank Ochoa (4g); Caden Dixon (2g-2g); Bryant Van Housen (2g-2a); Carter Earl (1g-3a); Braden Fingar (1g-3a); Mike Gigliotti (2g); Tukker Fisher (1g-1a); Collin Bacher (1g); Miles Ditzell (1g). For PYA’s goaltenders, Will Thompson spent 30 minutes in the net, making one save, and Aiden Griffiths made one save in relief. <b>Apr. 27</b> <b>Marcus Whitman 17, Midlakes/Red Jacket 1 </b>Making up for a lopsided loss to Geneva in the previous game, Whitman was firing on all cylinders against Midlakes/Red Jacket, dominating the game by 16 points. MW tallied 10 points in the first half and seven in the second, with MRJ’s Stuart Quku putting a point on the board in the last quarter to keep his team from taking the shutout. For Whitman, Tyler Tiffany got four goals and four assists, Rylan Weissinger had three goals and four assists, Melkamu Blueye had two goals and two assists and Jared Lee scored three goals. Blake Dunton had to make just one save for Whitman. For MRJ, Sam Kuhn got an assist on Quku’s goal, while Kaiden Larson had 12 saves while allowing 15 goals before being replaced by Jacob O’Brien, who allowed the last two goals in his nine minutes in net. <b>Apr. 28 </b> <b>Nichols 12, Marcus Whitman 11</b> Whitman narrowly lost to Nichols in a crossover game, dropping to 5-5. Marcus Whitman led through the first half, with the score 6-3 at halftime, but Nichols rallied in the second part of the game, going 5-4 in the third quarter and 4-1 in the fourth. Connor Gorton led the Wildcats with five goals. Also for Whitman, Rylan Weissinger had three goals and two assists and Brody Royston had two goals and one assist. Blake Dunton had 20 saves on the day. <b>Apr. 29 </b> <b>Penn Yan 7, Carthage 6</b> The boys from Penn Yan faced off against Carthage at Central Square, coming away with a close one-point victory. Despite a 2-7 record going in, Carthage kept pace with the Mustangs all the way through the game, with both teams scoring three in the first, two in the second and one in the third quarter. It wasn’t until the last period that PYA kept the score advantage, getting one past Carthage’s goalie and keeping their opponents from getting the rebuttal. Carter Earl led Penn Yan with three goals and an assist; Teagan Fingar got one goal and three assists; Braden Fingar had three assists and Frank Ochoa scored twice. Will Thompson had nine saves for the Mustangs. <b>BOYS TENNIS Apr. 21 </b> <b>Naples 5, Newark 0</b> Naples skunked Newark, getting their second shutout match in a row. <b>Apr. 24 </b> <b>Naples 4, Honeoye 1 </b> <b>Apr. 25</b> <b>Penn Yan 4, Avoca-Prattsburgh 1</b> Penn Yan Academy won 4-1 over AP, also improving their record to 4-1. Kyle Wheeler won singles for PYA, while Carson Nagpaul and Tommy Barden took doubles. <b>Apr. 26 </b> <b>Penn Yan 5, Mynderse 0</b> The Mustangs skunked Mynderse, taking all five match points. Landon Spears and Kyle Wheeler won their singles matches for PYA and Nagpaul and Barden took doubles over Mynderse’s team of Smith/Tanner. <b>Apr. 27 </b> <b>Penn Yan 5, Midlakes 0</b> Penn Yan got their second shutout in a row, improving to 6-1 for the season. <b>Naples 5, Pal-Mac 0</b> Naples got another shutout, this time taking down Pal-Mac. The Big Green were 4-1 with the win.
