Once Again Shoppe Departures

The Once Again Shoppe, located in Penn Yan, has been a pillar within the community for over 30 years. The shop is a non-profit, community focused organization with a mission to provide the residents of Yates County the opportunity to join together in an ecumenical, unified, comprehensive, community action program designed to ease poverty in the county. Hundreds of people and organizations have benefitted from the shop’s gracious contributions made each year.

There have been many changes over the years. As of late, the Shoppe has had an internal and external face lift and has become more organized for the customers, volunteers, and employees.

I want to thank the two managers for doing a wonderful job. Their creativity, devotion, and hard work have culminated in making the Shoppe a great place to work, volunteer, and patronize.

Unfortunately, the two managers were terminated by the Shoppe’s Executive Board on May 9, 2023. Upon hearing about the termination of the managers, the majority of volunteers and employees immediately resigned.

As a result, a family of staff and volunteers who were dedicated to the Shoppe and its mission have been separated from the organization they worked so hard to see thrive.

Thank you for this opportunity to share this information. It is unknown what impact, if any, the changes will have on the community. I would like to, again, thank the managers, staff and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
