Marjorie Mae (McLoud) Sloan passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on September 26, 2010.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 at the First Presbyterian Church in Prattsburgh. Family and friends are welcome to attend an informal gathering after th service to celebrate her life and share memories.
Marjorie was born on April 4, 1939, the daughter of Ithiel McLoud and Jennie Dunn McLoud. She grew up on a farm on Italy Hill. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker who did occassional vineyard work and worked part time at a local tree farm. Marjorie enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time with family and being outdoors.
She was known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
She is survived by her husband of 49, years, John W. Sloan Sr.; her children, Kellie (Jim) Socola, JOhn Sloan Jr., Nancy (Chad) Grover and Jannette Sloan; nine grandchildren, Caitlin Wilson, Kasey Socola, Taylor Grover, Chad Grover Jr., Garrett Socola, Brandy (Mike) Pritchard, Corey Sloan, Chloe Sloan, Shanna Sloan; four great-grandchildren, Noah Sloan, Tayna Pritchard, Alexis Pritchard, Shayden Sloan; her siblings, William "Billy" (Phyullis McLoud, Alex (Lynette) McLoud, Henry "Slim" (Betty) McLoud, Lois (Chris) Jensen, Annie (Ronnie) Raner, Donna McLoud and Shirley Potter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was predeceased by her father Ithiel McLoud, her mother Jennie (Dunn) McLoud, her brothers Douglas and Ithiel "Sonny" McLoud.
