Amanda Morrison, 96, of Branchport passed away at the Penn Yan Manor on Monday, October 27, 2014.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan. Amanda’s funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Amanda was born July 13, 1918 in Stanton, Neb. to the late Hugo & Clara (Klatt) Weichenthal. She and Ray Morrison were married on New Years Day, 1937. In addition to assisting with the family business Amanda worked for many years at J.C. Penney’s in Geneva and Lown’s in Penn Yan. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flower gardens, and watching for her favorite birds, cardinals and hummingbirds. During the winter her attention turned to cards, Scrabble, baking and family dinners.
She is survived by her children, Shirley (Gerald) Fullagar, Elden Morrison, Marlene Lerch; grandchildren, Timothy Fullagar, Susan Clark, Stephan Fullagar, Regina Clary, Michael Lerch, and Brian Lerch; sister-in-law, Dorothy Weichenthal; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Amanda was predeceased by her husband Ray; sisters, Martha Weichenthal, Ella Lunick, and Esther Harris; brothers, Arlin, Gehardt, Otto, and Paul; and son-in-law, King Lerch.
