Boys Lacrosse Sectionals May 24 Class D (#2) Penn Yan 19, (#7) Bloomfield/ Honeoye 1 The Penn Yan Mustangs dominated Bloomfield/Honeoye in their first game of the 2023 Section V tournament. The game was completely one-sided right from the start, with Penn Yan scoring 10 unanswered goals in the first quarter and another seven before halftime.

Celebrating A Centennial: Lakeside Country Club

PENN YAN - Lakeside Country Club is celebrating its centennial anniversary this spring and summer with a variety of tournaments and special events. The celebration season begins on June 3 with the Legacy Gala, a roaring twenties-themed party for the club’s nearly 500 members. Also slated for members in June is The Gridley Open, a nostalgic golf game using the original six holes of the golf course. Named for Abraham & Ellen Gridley who originally owned the current Lakeside property, the golf outing will feature players wearing period attire and entertainment. In July the “Champagne in the Kitchen” pickleball tournament will take place and a Centennial Jamboree is scheduled for August.

Boys Lacrosse May 16 Penn Yan 6, Clarence 0 The Mustangs shut out Clarence, a Class B team from Erie Country, in a crossover matchup that saw PYA improve to 7-7. Penn Yan scored five unanswered goals before halftime. While the third quarter saw no score from either team, the Mustangs tacked on another one in the fourth and never let a single Clarence ball find the net. Caden Dixon scored two goals for PYA; Carter Earl and Teagan Fingar each had a goal and two assists; Tukker Fisher and Frank Ochoa each had one goal and one assist.

Baseball May 2 Bloomfield 12, Naples 2 Bloomfield beat Naples by 10, handing the Big Green Machines their fourth loss in a row after Naples had started the season with a six-win streak. Naples was able to get a run in the first and second innings, but those were the only times they were able to cross the plate in the game. Traugott Uhlen led the Green at the plate, going 2-3, while Cade Rathburn also got a hit.
