Darryl R. Brown, 51, of Penn Yan, passed away at home Thursday, August 24, 2017.

Darryl was born in the Town of Urbana on Jan. 13, 1966, the son of Elizabeth (Defibaugh) and Richard E. Brown. Darryl was a 1984 graduate of the Penn Yan Academy. He was a DJ for WOZO radio and had worked for the Ice Cream Emporium. Darryl became an EMT and he worked with Penn Yan Area Volunteer Ambulance and Finger Lakes Ambulance Service. He later moved to North Hampton, Mass.where he became a CNA and worked for the North Hampton Hospital, as well as with the North Hampton Ambulance Service. During the Gulf War, Darryl was employed as the Director of EMS Services for the King Faud Hospital in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, working to help westernize and centralize health care. Upon return back to the Finger Lakes Area, he ran a private Home Health Care Service and had been the director of Phlebotomy at Clifton Springs Hospital.

Darryl is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Brown of Wildwood, Fla.; grandmother, Blanche Brown of Batavia; sister, Celeste Brown of Mariaville, Maine; brother and sister-in-law, Laurence and Ashley Brown of Walton; brother-in- law, Jeffrey Morgan of Leon, W.Va.; several, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; as well as close family friends, Jesse Soles, Benjamin Soles, and the Soles family.

He was predeceased by his father, Richard E. Brown; sister, Valerie Morgan; grandfather, Laurence W. Brown; and friend, Karen Soles.
