Rustine Renee Lavin, 54, of Penn Yan, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Clifton Springs Hospital after a long illness.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 21 at the Barrington Community Church.
Rustine was born in Canandaigua, Dec. 27, 1962. She was a 1980 graduate of Penn Yan Academy and had earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 2015 from NYS Empire College. She had many local jobs while living in the Finger Lakes.
She was always doing for others, and enjoyed volunteering for our locals. Rustine was a generous person who helped many people.
Rustine moved to Florida, cared for her quadriplegic husband, and their adopted children. Especially memorable was how her family furnished Christmas cheer to military families in need.
Years later she returned to New York, and was employed with Child & Family Resources in Penn Yan, training registered child care providers. Her illness caused her to stop a job she dearly loved.
Rustine is survived by her son, William Bruce Lavin; daughter, Aeronwenn Rustine Lavin; step-children, Sarah and Robert Klug; parents, Bruce and Beverly Daggett; brother, Jeff (Sally) Daggett; sister, Betsy Daggett; and several aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also her cat, Oreo, who misses her.
She was predeceased by her birth father, Russell E. Fox; and grandparents, Walter and Betty Manry, Arlington and Viola Daggett, Kay Lawrence, and Tom and Ruth Fox.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to our local food pantry.
