Newbery Award-winning 1962 science-fantasy novel adapted for the stage

The Penn Yan Academy Drama Club will present James Sie’s stage adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic novel A Wrinkle in Time this weekend, Oct. 26-28.

A Wrinkle in Time follows the travels of the Murry children, Meg (Sophomore Riley Dallos) and Charles Wallace (Freshman Massan Jensen), as they seek their father (Junior Collin Cummings) who went missing under mysterious circumstances a number of years ago. Meg and Charles team up with Calvin O’Keefe (Junior Jacob Eskildsen), a local boy who finds himself drawn into their planet-hopping adventures to search the cosmos for their father. Supported by their scientist mother (Junior McKelvie Jensen) and three enigmatic women known as Mrs. Whatsit (Junior Natasha Rivers), Mrs. Who (Freshman Meredith Hanley), and Mrs. Which (Senior Jenna Compton), the children brave a series of dangers, including the nefarious Red Eyes (Senior Paul Gaston) and his malevolent master, IT, to learn that the universe is more than what they know and that, “people are more than just the way they look.”

The production also features Amelia LeVea (Sophomore), Owen McFarland (Senior), Samantha Trank (Freshman), Mary Gulick (Sophomore), Lee Miller (Sophomore), Violet McCarley (Sophomore), Lenitza Ochoa (Freshman), and Roshanna Brewer (Sophomore).
