Update: At about 11:45 p.m. Nov. 9, the Yates County Sheriff's office announced that Herman had been found and was safe.
Update: Information posted on a New York State Missing Persons Clearinghouse indicates he was on Delaware Ave. in Cohoes, N.Y. (Albany County) at 9:40 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9.
The Yates County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating a missing and possibly vulnerable adult. Franklin J. Herman Jr. , 71, is described as a white male, 5'6" tall, 150 lbs. who is bald but may be wearing a ball cap. His address is Darbys' Corners Road, Penn Yan, in the town of Jerusalem.
Herman, who may be accompanied by his small black dog named Jake, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He left his home driving a blue, 2009 GMC Sierra pickup truck, bearing New York registration 90937JY. Herman, a diabetic, left his medications at home. He was last seen in Auburn by a gas station attendant who reports Herman may be headed to Monroe County. If anyone should have contact with Mr. Herman or his vehicle, they should call 911.
