Antonia Mendez, who removed an ankle monitor she was wearing as part of her supervision by N.Y. S. Office of Children and Family Services, was located around 10 a.m. Jan. 3.

UPDATE: Penn Yan Police say Antonia Mendez has been taken into custody by officers of the Rochester Police Department. She has been taken to a juvenile facility in Rush, according to Penn Yan Police Sgt. Brandon DeHond.

Penn Yan Police are asking for information about a juvenile runaway who is wanted on a warrant issued by the New York State Office of Children and Family Resources.

Police say Antonia R.J. Mendez, 15, of 338 Elm St., Penn Yan, who is under the supervision of the N.Y. State Office of Children and Family Services was thought to be missing Dec. 31, 2018. She has removed the ankle monitor she was wearing as part of her supervision.

Mendez had told her mother she planned to go to Eastview Mall in Victor with some friends, but police believe she did not go to the mall, and that she is somewhere in the Rochester area.

Mendez has contacted family through social media, saying she does not want to return home.

Mendez is a white female, light skin ton, 5 ft. 3 in., 130 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing jeans, a shirt of unknown color, and carrying a backpack.
