Comedy Night with Joel Lindley Feb. 23 (5 p.m. Cocktails; 6 p.m. Dinner; 8 p.m. Comedy Show) at Penn Yan Elks Lodge, 133 Main St., Penn Yan. Tickets available at Elks Lodge $25/$15
Come laugh with professional comedian Joel Lindley to celebrate Bob Kurz’s birthday and retirement after 34 years of service to the U.S. Post Office.
Kurz has transformed his celebration into a benefit dinner and show with all proceeds going to the Elks National Foundation (one of the largest charitable organizations in America) as well as the Humane Society of Yates County.
Tickets for the Feb. 23 chicken & lasagna buffet dinner and comedy show are $25, and must be purchased by Feb. 17. These limited seating tickets are available at the Elks Lodge and from Kurz. Walk-in tickets for the 8 p.m. comedy show without dinner are $15.
Comedian Joel Lindley has been writing and performing comedy since 1986. In addition to multiple appearances on Comedy Central and Conan O’Brian, Joel has been a regular guest on The Bob and Tom and Howard Stern radio shows. Always a supporter of our troops, Lindley has been a USO performer in Southeast Asia, Kuwait, and Afghanistan, and currently performs on Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruise lines.
Joel’s connection to Penn Yan is a long one. “I did live above Cam’s N.Y. Pizzeria in Penn Yan in 1983 and ‘84, and presently own a cottage on West Lake road in Jerusalem by the Colonial Motel,” says Lindley. “I’m looking forward to the weekend there. I’m doing a Seattle, Chicago, Las Vegas, Penn Yan tour, so it will be starting to wind down.”
Wanting to share his love of laughter while benefiting the community and the BPOE, Kurz wants to end his postal carrier career with a smile.
“I’m looking forward after 34 years with the Penn Yan Post Office in starting a new chapter in my life,” says Kurz. “Although I’ll miss seeing, talking, and joking with my customers, I do look forward in running my store, Watkins Glen Wine & Spirits.”
