A hearing on the 2019–2020 budget for the Penn Yan Public Library will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 2 at the Library. There will be a special meeting of the voters of the Penn Yan Central School District to consider a proposition to adopt the upcoming budget Tuesday, April 9.
Voting will be held at the library from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The proposition authorizes the library board of trustees to expend the sum of $706,480.
Also April 9, voting will take place to elect library trustees. Two trustee positions for five-year terms are available. Interested candidates must submit petitions to Penn Yan Public Library clerk, Amy Loveland by March 11 at 5 p.m. Blank petitions may be picked up at the Library.
The library is collecting Needs and Things for The Living Well through Feb. 28 in lieu of fines not in collections. Library patrons may bring in hygiene and cleaning items to have overdue fines forgiven. One Needs and Things item is required for each overdue item being returned in order for a fine to be forgiven.
The library will also collect donated items for the Living Well even if a patron does not have any overdue fines. Needs and Things list: dish soap, laundry soap, diapers (size 3 and up), baby wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues, deodorant, razors and shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bar soap, deodorant, and shampoo.
