PY DRI Committee
The Penn Yan Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Local Planning Committee (LPC) will hold its fifth meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 at the Penn Yan Fire Department, 125 Elm St. Penn Yan. The LPC will hear project updates from the DRI consultant team before reviewing the slate of projects to be forwarded to the State of New York for consideration of DRI funding.The meeting is open to the public and there will be an opportunity for public comments at the end of the meeting.
American Civics 101
American Civics 101: Effective Citizenship, will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 13 at Penn Yan Public Library, 214 Main St., Penn Yan. Keuka College political science professor Angela Narasimhan leads a course in American government and how to become a more effective citizen. Use freely-available online resources for suggested readings and activities, and meet periodically for context and discussion with peers. If you have an opinion on local issues (the closure of the mental health ward, fracking around our lakes, the Downtown Revitalization Initiative, the opioid epidemic, and more), this experience will equip you with the tools to take action.
