Red Cross Blood Drive

A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 15 at Yates County Office Building, 417 Liberty St., Penn Yan

.A severe shortage of blood supplies continues. Your donation can help up to three people. If you are 17 or older, in good health and haven’t donated blood in 56 days you are eligible to donate one unit of whole blood. If you are O Positive or Negative or A or B Negative and haven’t donated in the last 112 days you may be eligible to donate a Power Red unit. To donate or for more information go to redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of ID are required. Visit redcross.org/RapidPass to complete pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire on the day of donation to reduce donor wait time at the drive.

Stone Soup Party

Stone Soup Party will be held at 10 a.m. March 15 at Penn Yan Public Library, 214 Main St., Penn Yan. The classic tale of “Stone Soup” is all about a community coming together. Join us in the morning for storytime and communal soup-making, and then stop by in the early evening to try some of the finished soup! All supplies are provided for this free program, which is intended for ages 8 and under, with a caregiver. Registration is appreciated so we can budget for supplies. Ladies Luncheon

LeTourneau Christian Center’s Blessed Hope March ladies luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. March 15 at LeTourneau Christian Center, 4950 County Road 11, Rushville. The program is titled “Grace and Mercy in the Mess” and the speaker will be Verity Swayne, the mother of a Down syndrome daughter. Program and lunch is only $12. Stone Painting

We continue our celebration of “Stone Soup” and community togetherness with a fun afternoon of rock painting from 1 to 4 p.m. March 15 at Penn Yan Public Library, 214 Main St., Penn Yan. All supplies will be provided, but if you have special stones you would like to bring, feel free! Please wear clothes that can get messy. All ages are welcome to this free program. Stone Soup Tasting and Craft

Friends who came by the library in the morning to help prepare Stone Soup are invited back to taste the finished product. Drop by any time between 4 and 5:30. p.m. March 15. A Fish Fry will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 15 at the Benton Firehouse. Fried and broiled fish, baked potato, French fries, macaroni & cheese, cole slaw, rolls, dessert and drinks, $11.50.

D-I-Y Café & Creativity Time will be held at 4:30 p.m. March 15 at Gorham Free Library, 2664 State Rte. 245, Gorham. Craft a fancy beverage. Then, work on creative projects together.

Jr. Chef Dinner

Cookbook book Club Jr. Chef Dinner will be held at 5 p.m. March 15 at Gorham Free Library, 2664 State Rte. 245, Gorham. Kids, pick a recipe from our display cookbooks, make it at home, and come to the library, joining other junior chefs and their families for a potluck dinner.

Family Movie Night

Family Movie Night will be held at 5 p.m. March 15 at Penn Yan Public Library, 214 Main St., Penn Yan. In tonight’s family-friendly movie, “a Yeti is convinced that the elusive creatures known as ‘humans’ really do exist.” (description form imdb.com) This 2018 animated movie is rated PG for some action, rude humor, and thematic elements, and is 1 hour and 36 minutes long. Teacher Tip-Off

Penn Yan Academy’s Future Business Leaders of America will host its 2nd annual Teacher Tip Off basketball game featuring teachers from PYE, PYMS, and PYA at 7 p.m. March 15 in the Penn Yan Academy gym.The event will include half-time events, great food, and comedy gold. Admission will be $3, all proceeds benefit the FBLA.

Learn to Paint Landscapes

A Learn to Paint Landscapes workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays, March 15 to 29 at Arts Center of Yates County, 27 Main St., Penn Yan. Instructor Grant Lounsury will teach the elements of compelling landscapes and exploring the various painting mediums. For beginning painters or painters with little experience in landscape painting.
