Paul’s Place, a free drop-in respite for both early Stage Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 21. Volunteers will engage loved ones in socializing, activities, games, music. Lunch included. Guests need to be fairly independent. We gather the third Thursday of each month at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 135 Hamilton St. in Penn Yan. Story time: Spring
Spring will be the subject of Story time at 10:30 a.m. March 21 at Dundee Library, 32 Water St., Dundee The sun has just crossed the equator and it is time to start thinking about green grass, new life, warm temperatures and lots of sunshine! We’ll start our signs of spring challenge!
The Lenten Luncheon at noon March 21 will be held at the First Baptist Church, 224 Main St., Penn Yan Leo Reinhardt, Our Lady of the Lakes will be the speaker. The meal is ziti, tossed salad, Italian bread, fruited Jell-O. St. Mark’s and St. Luke’s Episcopal churches will serve. Meals are being prepared by the Wagner Restaurant with area churches providing the desserts. $7 per person.

Red Cross Blood Drive
A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 21 at Branchport Fire Department, Rt. 54A. A severe shortage of blood supplies continues. Your donation can help up to three people. If you are 17 or older, in good health and haven’t donated blood in 56 days you are eligible to donate one unit of whole blood. If you are O Positive or Negative or A or B Negative and haven’t donated in the last 112 days you may be eligible to donate a Power Red unit. Visit redcross.org/RapidPass to complete pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire on the day of donation to reduce donor wait time at the drive.

History of Cheesemaking
Cheesemaking in Schuyler County and the region will be explored at 6 p.m. March 21 Sunset View Creamery is located at 4970 County Road 14, Catharine. Carmella Hoffman, founder and owner of Sunset View Creamery in Catharine, and Heather O’Grady-Evans, a key organizer of the annual Finger Lakes Cheese Festival at Sunset View, will be the speakers. O’Grady-Evans will review the history of cheesemaking in the area, and Hoffman will discuss the current industry. A macaroni and cheese supper featuring Hoffman’s own Sunset View recipe will be served at 5:30 p.m. The cost will be $6, and all proceeds will be donated by Sunset View to Greyson Schock of Odessa to help with medical expenses.
The talk will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a free tasting of Sunset View cheeses and a wine sampling.
