Introduction to Weaving

The spring craft of making a set of three 4X4 wooden bunnies, will be held from 11 a.m. to noon March 23 with Lisa Bailey at Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library, 21 William St., Hammondsport. Barn Building Legacy
A program on Wells barns will be presented at 2 p.m. March 23 at the Geneva History Museum, 543 S. Main St., Geneva. The program, The Barn Building Legacy of J.T.Wells & Sons, is sponsored by the Antiques Club of the Finger Lakes and is free and open to the public. John Talcott Wells invented and patented an ingenious method of barn building that departed from traditional post and beam construction. Instead, he used a system of laminated trusses that balanced inward and outward forces, creating soaring, open spaces allowing access to the interior by horse-drawn wagons. This program will focus with words and images on the majestic Wells structures built between 1889 and1946, most in Monroe County and Western New York.
Ben Baker concert

As Doc Baker’s Traveling Musicological Extravaganza, Rochester’s Ben Baker makes tuneful music inspired by the likes of Wilco, Blind Melon, and Neil Young. The Parents of the Penn Yan Academy Class of 2019 are holding a Chicken Parmesan dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday March 23 at the Penn Yan Elks Lodge, 133 Main St. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in advance from parents of the Class of 2019 or at the door. Take outs will be available. Proceeds from the dinner support the Penn Yan Academy Class of 2019 Operation Graduation.
