Baby Storytime

Join us for a fun storytime full of movement, rhymes, bubbles, parachute games, and more at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. March 27 at Penn Yan Public Library, 214 Main St., Penn Yan. Best for children ages 3 years and under, with a caregiver, this storytime helps pre-readers develop the skills that will help them succeed in reading and writing later in life. Little Bookworms

Little Bookworms will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 March 27 at Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library, 21 William St., Hammondsport. Bring your child to the library for stories, activities, and snack.

Parkinsons Support Group

The Parkinsons Support Group of the Finger Lakes will meet at 1 p.m. March 27 at the Ontario County Safety Training Facility (2914 County Road 48, Canandaigua). Alyssa Ferrigno (RN, BSN) a geriatric care manager with 20 years of experience in the community health field will speak on the topic “Levels of Care.” A social time and breakout groups for those with PD and their care partners will follow the talk.

Talk Saves Lives

The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Yates County will present Talk Saves Lives, a community- based introduction to suicide prevention, from noon to 1 p.m. March 27 at the Yates County Wellness Fair, Yates County Offices, 417 Liberty St., Basement Auditorium, Penn Yan. The presentation will cover what we know about suicide, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what everyone can do to fight it. You’ll learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep yourself, your loved ones, and those in our community safe. Caregiver Support Group

The Alzheimer’s Association Rochester & Finger Lakes Region will host a Caregiver Support Group from 2 to 3 p.m. March 27 at Dundee Library, 32 Water St., Dundee.

Machine Sewing: Pincushion

Machine Sewing will be held at 3 p.m. March 27 at Dundee Library, 32 Water St., Dundee. We’ll introduce you to basic sewing machine skills and have you walking out the door with a fun and functional pin cushion.

Rotary Pop-Up Café

American Civics 101

American Civics 101: Effective Citizenship, will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 27 at Penn Yan Public Library, 214 Main St., Penn Yan. Keuka College political science professor Angela Narasimhan leads a course in American government and how to become a more effective citizen. Use freely-available online resources for suggested readings and activities, and meet periodically for context and discussion with peers. If you have an opinion on local issues (the closure of the mental health ward, fracking around our lakes, the Downtown Revitalization Initiative, the opioid epidemic, and more), this experience will equip you with the tools to take action.
