Demolition of buildings at The Viking Resort began March 25 and will continue next week, according to co-owner Ken Christensen Jr.
The property, located in the town of Barrington, will be subdivided and sold as seven individual parcels.
The buildings being demolished this week are the northern-most structures, which were built in 1976.
Next week, the buildings Christensen refers to as "The Rustics" will be demolished. Those structures were built in 1961 by Ken Christensen Sr. when he opened the resort. He passed away in October 2014.
Ken Christensen Jr. and his sister listed the resort property, which includes 800 feet of Keuka Lake shoreline for sale in November 2016.
Closer to the north end of the lake's east branch, site work is well underway for the 82-unit Keuka Shores townhouse complex that will stand across Lake Street from Red Jacket park. Previously, Keuka Estates mobile home park was located on that property.
