The Upstate Research Rocketry Group will host a three-day Rocketry Festival June 21–23 at Torrey Farms, State Rte. 364 in Potter. These folks are serious about rocket power, but they don’t let that interfere with having a fun and exciting event. The Yates County location gives these rocketeers the most airspace to launch their creations east of the Mississippi. Some featured rockets are more than 10 feet tall and reach altitudes of more than 14,000 feet. The festival is open to the public, and members are happy to explain how they prepare and launch a rocket. Children will have an opportunity to launch a small rocket during their visit.  For more information and to see photos of rockets that will be featured, visit urrf.us.
