This weekend, 62 area youth entering grades 3-9 will bring Disney’s Frozen Jr. to life on the Penn Yan Middle School stage as PYTCo Youth’s summer drama camp musical.

Frozen Jr. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, on stage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen Jr. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood.

With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen Jr. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

The cast includes Izzy Hinkal as Elsa, Madisyn Richter as Anna, Kyle Wheeler as Kristoff, and Joe Droney as Olaf.

Co-Directed by Grace Knapton and Dusty Baker, the camp is in its 16th season and runs for just three weeks. Students work for about 3.5 hours a day getting in only 12 rehearsals before the performance. Most of the dozen (plus) high school counselors are students who were once campers themselves. The camp is used as a learning experience for all involved. Middle and high school students run lights and sound and the counselors lead and teach groups of students through dances, blocking and lines.

Disney’s Frozen Jr. runs at the Penn Yan Middle School Auditorium July 25, 26, and 27 at 7:30 p.m.. Tickets are available at the door and online at www.pytco.org. Advanced tickets are encouraged.
