Update: Rep. Tom Reed has issued the following statement Sept. 20: "Thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. After my evaluation by the doctors at George Washington University Hospital, it turns out I had a previously undiagnosed case of pneumonia. I look forward to returning to work on Monday.
Rep. Tom Reed, who represents New York’s 23rd District in Congress, collapsed Thursday afternoon in Washington, D.C.
The congressman’s communications director says that Reed collapsed around 1:30 p.m. in the Cannon House Office Building. He was about to do an interview with Fox Business when it happened.
“Tom is in good condition, responsive, and being checked out by medical personnel following today’s fall,” Communications Director Will Reinert said.
The Republican has represented Southern Tier, Finger Lakes, and Western New York in Congress since 2010.
