WELLSVILLE — Each year, the Dr. Lyle F. Renodin Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, provides grants for programs and projects whose public charitable purposes are carried out in a manner consistent with the tradition of the Franciscan Sisters.
Requests for monies must show a connection to the mission of the Foundation and assist those who are poor, elderly or have mental or physical disabilities. Awarded projects also showed sustainability to live on long after the award period is over.
The Foundation board of directors met recently to review grant applications for the Fall 2019 cycle. Mary Jo Black, board chair, is proud to announce that 21 grants were approved and awarded totaling $37,000.
Among the grant recipients was the Allegany County Mental Health Association – Youth Compeer Program in Wellsville.
The ACCORD Corporation – Flexible Assistance for Families program in Belmont also received funding.
The Cuba Cultural Center – Backpack Program in Cuba earned an award as well.
The Friendship Church of God in Christ (Mission Agape) earned an award to help provide brown bag lunches, school supplies, holiday food baskets and Christmas gifts for children in Friendship.
Heritage Aflame Ministries of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties received funding for benevolence (rent, utilities, gas for employment search, school supplies, food, camperships).
The Kevin Guest House of Buffalo received funding for providing Guest Lodging for patients and families traveling for medical care from Allegany, Cattaraugus and McKean counties.
